Pilgrimage in honour of Our Lady of Evesham and All the Saints of Evesham.
A Day of Prayer and Fellowship
Saturday 13th September 2025 was a truly special day as pilgrims gathered in honour of Our Lady and All Saints of Evesham. Despite a forecast that threatened heavy showers, the weather stayed largely sunny, and spirits were high as pilgrims arrived not just from the local area but from other parts of the country to take part.
The day began with a prompt departure from St James’ Church, Badsey, and at 10:30 the Akathist to Our Lady and All Saints of Evesham was chanted at the Abbey site. Different attendees took turns with the verses, and the result was both beautiful and deeply moving – a fitting tribute to the saints of this holy place.
At 11:00, Divine Liturgy was celebrated at All Saints Evesham. Our heartfelt thanks go to Fr Stephen for the lovely service and to Presbytera Catherine for her support throughout the day. The church was filled with prayer and song, and many pilgrims spoke afterwards of how uplifting it was to be part of such a gathering.
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a bring-and-share lunch indoors to avoid the risk of showers. There was an abundance of different foods brought by pilgrims, including delicious fish and chips, which proved very popular. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with conversations and laughter filling the room.
The afternoon continued with a guided tour of Evesham Abbey ruins and The Almonry Museum, led by Henry, whose knowledge and enthusiasm made the history of the site come alive. Pilgrims were fascinated to learn more about Evesham’s monastic past and its place in English history.
The day concluded with Vespers at 15:00, a peaceful and prayerful service that brought the pilgrimage to a gentle close.
We are grateful to everyone who attended, to Fr Stephen and Presbytera Catherine, and especially to Henry for organising such a memorable day. It was a wonderful occasion of shared prayer, learning, and fellowship – one that will be fondly remembered.
